Custom Training Plan

nearon bat swing

Most athletes train at Gamespeed via our customized personal development plans. It starts with our Intro/Eval session. Following that we pair the findings of our initial observation with the goals of the athlete and build a custom program. The athlete then embarks on that program. Attendance is based on the training package chosen.  Development is continual so our training plans are open ended. Once a package is completed the athlete is free to re-up and continue training or go into competition.

Seasonal Specialty Classes (Sport Specific)

Seasonally we do offer Specialty Training Classes. These are training classes with a set curriculum aimed at a particular sport. We offer some of the most original and innovative classes in the Bay Area.  Sometimes we collaborate with some of the areas best sport specific instructors. Below are some of our classes. If you are interested in hearing when a particular class is being offered please fill out the contact form to be added to our email announcements list.

The Youth Speed Skills Class was the first Speed & Movement class specifically designed for youth athletes ages 8-12. Balance , coordination , posture and confidence are the cornerstones for solid athletic performance.  Athletes learn to accelerate, decelerate, stop, start, change direction. This curriculum is not just about performing but setting a solid foundation for future athletic success. And who says we cant have fun while doing it?

The Speed Skills Class is about straight ahead and multi-directional speed for field and court athletes.  First Step Explosiveness, Start-Stop, Acceleration and Top End running speed are the focus of training. Great for any field or court athlete, its employs the basics in developing speed as a weapon in your athletic arsenal. After one or two series most athletes then graduate into custom training where they continue to build speed skills but in a more sport specific environment.

This dynamic program offers a two-pronged approach to developing the ultimate play maker. Participants will sharpen their fielding skills and techniques with former SF Giants player Erik Johnson of EJ Sports  and strengthen their athletic skill development with Gamespeed’s  Aaron Thigpen.  It promises to be the most effective 75 minutes of training a baseball athlete can undergo.

Participants can expect to see improvement in:

Soft- Quick Hands              Footwork

Range                                  Instincts

Reaction                                Vision

Off Season Pitchers Conditioning  Development

Little as it’s known Gamespeed has developed just over one hundred pitchers since 1995.  The program started very modestly and the exercises quite simple. Over the past eighteen years it has grown into a very methodical, potent and successful training regiment.  Our athletes success bears that out.  Even as our program continues to improve and challenge the boundaries of human performance the one constant philosophy and concept that we’ve had from the onset is that pitching is a Total Body Athletic Action.

Six Major League first round draft picks.

Almost forty over 90+mph high school pitchers.

Athletes increase their velocity  from 5mp-10mph.

Our most recent  1st round pick Robert Stephenson of Alhambra High to Cincinnati Reds 2011. Recently hit 101mph in his first year of single A in 2012.

Two camps in one!

Another great collaboration. A pairing of Gamespeed’s speed and movement development skills and the technical and tactical instruction of coach Quang Hamon of Bulldog Soccer. How many camps incorporate professional soccer training with bona fide professional speed & agility training? This is the first and only of its kind and is certain to benefit any committed soccer player.

Speed Skills (quickness, agility, running technique, balance).
Bursts & Acceleration (get away from opponents faster & win more loose balls).
Change of Direction (combine feints & speed to deceive opponents and penetrate defenses).
Technical & Tactical Speed (perform all skills faster & increase your speed of play).
Explosive Kicks (low hard, driving shots).
Finishing (the art of scoring goals).
First Touch (lofted and ground passes/crosses).

Training Movement for Optimal Velocity, Explosiveness and Speed.

This class is designed to address the universal need for movement skills in the high school football athlete. Most programs weigh heavily on the weight lifting and building size component of football preparation. However there is a huge need to balance that with the ability to run, cut, jump and be athletic on the field.  Athletes make plays, explosive & faster athletes make big plays. Make the Speed-Power connection.
