The GS tandem of Ed Achzinger and Jeff Leung scored a late touchdown to beat league rival Acalanes. These two happen to be teammates on the track teams record setting 400m relay. Cant wait to get these guys back on the track.

A 28-yard touchdown pass from Edward Achziger to Jeff Leung on fourth down with less than a minute remaining Friday proved to be the difference-maker as host Dublin High held off a second-half rally to beat Acalanes 32-29.

Dublin (5-2, 2-2 Diablo Foothill Athletic League) looked in complete control at halftime, getting scores on its first four possessions to build an 18-point advantage at intermission.

But that cushion disappeared with a 4-yard touchdown rush from Craig Anderson that capped a run of 22 unanswered points, giving Acalanes (4-5, 2-3) a 29-25 lead with four minutes remaining.

The Dons’ only lead of the game wouldn’t last long, however, as Achziger orchestrated the ensuing possession into the game-winning drive behind an impressive combination of passing and running.

Achziger would account for 58 of the final drive’s 70 yards, including three first downs to set up the game-winning pass. He would finish the game with 249 yards of total offense, including 175 passing and four scores.

Acalanes quarterback Spencer Henderson was the fuel for his offense when it was moving, collecting 119 yards on 9-of-12 passing.
