Whether you are a newbie or veteran of the showcase experience here are a few suggestions before you attend your next one.
Here are a few tips that will help you put your best foot forward when it counts.
1. Calendar your events. – Scheduling events ahead of time will allow you to properly prepare your body. I suggest giving 4-6 weeks to get physically ready.
2. Know the Itenerary – Understand the sequence of events , know when each actvity will take place and prepare accordingly with the proper warm-up and gear at the ready. Do a couple of simulations in the weeks leading to the event.
3. Be well rested and fueled – You should have proper fuel, sleep and rest starting 72 hours before the event. Waiting the night before to eat and rest properly is too late.
4. Arrive early- This will allow you to scout the area, not rush through registration, get properly laid out and find places to rest or warm-up.
5. Know Your Reps- Understand the parameters of the showcase and be ready to perform. Knowing how may at bats, ground balls, or inning you will pitch can help you prepare yourself accordingly and develop a strategy to make the most of your opportunity. 5.
