HOW PREPARED ARE COLLEGE FRESHMEN ATHLETES FOR THE RIGORS OF COLLEGE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING?

(Bret Sterrer – Alhambra High- Lewis & Clark College -Baseball/Pitcher)

Gamespeed’s College Ready Program was devised at the onset of its existence. Taking from my own experiences as an athlete and coach I saw the importance of  being prepared for the transitions from middle  to high school, high school to college and college to professional athletics. There is a jump at each level both physically and mentally.

Years later it seems very few have caught on to change things.  Nice to know that Gamespeed athletes are not in that majority.  I am always proud to post on our site and sing the praises of  the GS trained athlete in college.  The athletes illustrate the importance of  properly”managed training” and its effect on how far you can go. Our off-season “College Ready Program” is specifically designed to keep you from being a statistic. Being good enough to get recruited is short-sighted, you want to be good enough to play.  Waiting until your on campus may be too late.

A recent study in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning published a survey on the opinions of university strength and conditioning coaches and the preparedness of freshman athletes […]

Top Gun Pitchers & Throwers Conditioning Program – Results Are In!

Due to the popularity and success of last years program the 2016-17 class saw an increase in attendees.  This exceptional group of pitchers and catchers bonded as they worked side by side for both  common and individual goals.  The results have been amazing.

The purpose of this program is to develop the “total throwing athlete” regardless of position.

While other programs just chase velocity, we measure the underlying “physical factors” that contribute to improved velocity, but more importantly overall health.  By looking at the improvement in all these areas both individually and as a collective it gives us a clear picture of the overall development of the throwing athlete. Therefore we can track specific improvement or regression and prescribe the right training modalities moving forward.

These athletes accomplished all this in thirty two (32) training sessions!!!

Velocity

Early reports from our athletes show an average improvement in velocity of 3-5mph. All report throwing harder. Update: As of July 25th  average velocity improvement for most of the group was 3-5 mph and a top of 8 mph. One athlete has also hit 94-95 mph.

Arm Health

Proper arm health reduces the risk of shoulder and lower arm injuries. Discrepancies of strength […]

“Growing Up Gamespeed”: Two Longtime Athletes Donate Pro Jerseys

Gamespeed’s been a part of athletes lives in the Bay Area for over twenty years now. I’ve trained hundreds of athletes. Like anything they come and go. However there are some who spend most of their athletic lives with me. Case in point Cheyenne Cordes and Robert Stephenson. I am proud to have played a part in their athletic development and watch them grow as individuals and athletes.

They have given me some of the most memorable moments of my coaching career and now have added to that by giving me autographed replicas of their pro jerseys. You guys are a true inspiration to me and the future generations of Gamespeed athletes.

Thank You.

Cheyenne Cordes (Softball – Infield)

As a middle school athlete Cheyenne came to me and we’ve worked together now for over twelve years. A standout at Rodriguez High then onto CAL and now in the National Pro Fastpitch League playing her first pro season with the Rebellion but recently traded to the Texas Charge.

Robert Stephenson (Baseball – Pitcher)

Its been eight years since Robert first joined Gamespeed. We’ve watched him develop into a top high school […]
