Alhambra wins postponed Easter Tournament finale

By GERARDO RECINOS
Martinez Tribune

From the first pitch of the ball game the Alhambra Bulldogs were behind the eight ball. They and their starting pitcher were down, but not out, and came back to win their own Easter Tournament almost two weeks after its inception.

Brett Sterrer’s first pitch in the restart of the suspended game was a strike, but after attempting to come back from a 3-0 account that junior Jordyn Eglite left for him a week prior, Sterrer walked the first hitter.

But the junior right hander took the chance to get the win by getting out of a jam with two runners on by getting out of the fifth inning, and pitching a perfect sixth after Pittsburg’s Dominic Arias struck out the side in his first action since the start of the game a week prior.

But time allowed the Bulldogs to break through Arias. They had only […]

Gamespeed’s Stephenson makes second major league start a successful one.

Martinez, Ca – Gamespeeds Robert Stephenson (Alhambra HS) got his second major league start this year and proved again he’s ready for the show. Great job Robert.

Story appeared in Cincinnati.com 04/19/2016.

For the second time this year, Robert Stephenson was called up for a spot start for the Reds and won. For the second time this year, Stephenson will immediately return to Triple-A Louisville, despite his efforts.

“He would pitch again if (Alfredo) Simon wasn’t able to go, but at this point in time he’s had two major league starts and they’ve been good. I still feel like he has some things he can improve upon,” Reds manager Bryan Price said following the Reds’ 4-3 victory over the Rockies. “If the need was here, I’d be happy to have him pitch here, but at this moment the need is not. We do feel he has a little ways to go as far as his development. He’ll return to Triple-A unless we have an injury and continue to work on the areas he needs to focus on.”

Stephenson started Tuesday after Simon told the team he was feeling some soreness in his shoulder. Stephenson could be recalled earlier than the requisite 10 days if […]

Gamespeeds: Cyclist Alex Tellez Wins Santa Cruz Grinduro

Orinda-  Ca.

Grinduro: Where mountain biking and road racing mix to become  a whole lot more.

Imagine a steep bike road climb up to as high as 10,000ft above sea level. Now imagine riding on gravel  the whole way, slipping and sliding. Oh yeah and your racing!

Well Gamespeed’s resident biking professional and certified crazy man Alex Tellez uses these races as tune up for the 2016 Olympic Indoor cycling competition. Alex will represent the Phillipines. With the scarce availability of indoor riding tracks you gotta do something to prepare.

In his first race of this type ever he won the Santa Cruz Grinduro. Never a guy to shy away from s challenge or punishment I guess this was tailor made for the Orinda resident.

Congrats Alex, “I think”.
