Young Guns
Pitchers & Throwers Development Program Ages 10-13

What’s the most important component in developing a young pitcher or throwing athlete?

Management

Pitch counts and staying away from high risk pitches are just a start. Young arms need a completely managed plan that encompasses age appropriate physical training, education for both the athlete and parent and monitoring of all throwing activities.

The Young Guns Program is about the comprehensive management of young athletes who participate in year round baseball and softball throwing and pitching activities.

The goals of the Program are to:

v. Develop the physical foundation to progress successfully through all levels of softball and baseball.
v. Empower the athlete and parent with the knowledge to make sound, sensible and appropriate decisions in regards to their athlete’s abilities, performance and expectations.
v. To put the athlete on the proper trajectory to be competitive at the various levels of their sport.

Expected Outcomes:

v. Improved range of motion and flexibility.
v. Improved endurance and stamina.
v. Improved velocity and control.
v. Confidence and composure.

Gamespeed’s newest olympian Marlo (Deon) Moore on to Rio!!!!

Congratulations to Deon Moore for his four bout victories to make the US Olympic Boxing Team. Marlo spent his last month of preparation at Gamespeed polishing his athleticism with Aaron Thigpen. A training partner of Andre Ward he is following in the footsteps of the bay areas former Olympic champ.

Super heavyweight Marlo Moore (Hayward, Calif.) wasn’t one of the favorites entering the 2016 Olympic Trials for Men’s Boxing but he proved he belonged with four victories in Reno. A product of renowned trainer Virgil Hunter’s gym, Moore entered Saturday night as the winners bracket champion. He took on challengers bracket champion Brandon Lynch (Albany, N.Y.) in the final bout of the evening with his teammate Andre Ward looking on from ringside. He completed his improbable run to an Olympic Trials title with a 3-0 victory over Lynch. “I’m feeling good, it just hasn’t sunk in. We put the last win in the back and moved on and here we are, on our way to Rio,” Moore said. “It’s an amazing feeling, words can’t describe it.”

The Cardinals’ “cost certainty” strategy of Day 2 paid off with Saturday’s first selection: Steven Farinaro, a right-handed pitcher from Head-Royce School (Calif.) at No. 335 overall.

With flexible cap room heading into Day 3 of the First-Year Player Draft, the Cardinals selected the prep pitcher whom scouting director Dan Kantrovitz estimates it may take significant resources to lure away from his college commitment to UCLA.

Kantrovitz said Farinaro, one of 20 players to attend the Cardinals’ pre-draft workout last Tuesday at Busch Stadium, has first- and second-round talent, but […]

Former Oregon Safety Erick Dragan getting ready for in season pickup.

NFL Analysis

Strengths

Strong football intelligence. Shenanigan-buster — sees reverses and misdirection plays and puts an end to them. Often plays near the box or over slot receiver. Shows good route recognition and reacts with adequate quickness to cuts. Uses quick, easy backpedal in coverage as deep safety and made 13 interceptions over last three years thanks to soft hands. Mirrors runners and keeps them in front of him. Unfolds arms into wide net and finishes as tackler. Must have led the nation in awkward, shoestring tackles, but he got the job done. Plays on all four special teams units and recovered an onside kick in 2014.

Weaknesses

Lacking desired long speed and athleticism. Does fine reacting laterally to cuts, but hips are clunky and slow to open when asked to flip and run against vertical throws. Productive as ballhawk, but missing NFL-caliber […]
