School records for Enzo Viladoid and Erika Serame

Congratulations to Enzo Villadolid who set school records in the 100m and 200m. The seventh grader set a 100m dash record of 11.97 seconds and 200m of 25.10. Blazing!  Enzo came out in October to work on his start and early race phases. We then moved on to strength training and top end speed. He will compete this summer, aiming for the AAU and Jr National championship meets.

Erika Serame, despite injury plagued season PR’s by six inches. Sets Dougherty Valley School Record at NCS meet of Champions. .

Erika suffered an foot injury due to some problems with her orthotics. She went to rehab and continued her strength regiment at Gamespeed. She literally started vaulting  three to four week before her conference meet. Her perserverance paid off not ultimately where she wanted to be but not a bad ending to her prep career. Her dad emailed:

Hi there,

…..not sure you received but wanted to advise that Erika missed going to state by 9 inches.  She cleared well over 10’6” which was a personal record for her […]

GS athletes contribute to repsective teams NCS success

We had a few athletes in NCS Baseball and Softball championship action over the weekend. All played pivotal roles in helping their respective teams  to their titles.

Very exciting and I’m very proud because I’ve seen all of the hard work put in by these athletes. All of these athletes started training back in September. Some return to high school others now go off to college, but all get to enjoy the summer. Earned and well deserved guys.

Baseball teams group training results in tourney wins

Warriors Ripon April 13-14, 2013 Champions 1435 resized
Team training at Gamespeed is serious but also fun. And hey the rewards aren’t bad either. Modesty in an athlete is a desired trait. But I also believe “It ain’t bragging if its true”. Two of our baseball teams the Diablo Warriors and Tri Valley Rangers were kind enough to reveal their success on the field. Thanks guys, it lets us know were on the right track from a training standpoint but also gives us a boost to see your hard work pay off.

Gamespeed’s York throws “No Hitter” to advance Acalanes to NCS championship game

Another success story from this years class of the “Pitchers off season conditioning program”. We literally had just a handful of participants but each one is having a phenomenal season. Johnny was one of the quiet and steady workers who consistantly put in the work like a machine. He’s having a great season with one of the areas lowest ERA’s.

The Dons rode the arm of John York in a semifinal win over Sonoma Valley. The senior fired an 83-pitch perfect game in a 1-0 win. He had 15 strikeouts and six groundouts and not a single ball went to the outfield.

Campo’s Shelton tosses three hitter to advance team to NCS Championships.

This years class of  “off-season pitchers conditioning athletes  is just awesome”. Shelton, one of the latest pitching coach Jeff Pick -Gamespeed projects is helping to lead his team into the post season for a second consecutive year. Shleton and his GS training mate Matt Ladrech are set to defend their NCS championship of last year. He follows in the footsteps of last years GS- Pick trained James Marvel (Campolindo/now at Duke).  When you put in the work your not only physically tough but mentally tough as well. “Train early, win late!”

May 30 2013, CC Times: The Campolindo High baseball team earned its third consecutive 2-0 win in the postseason — this time trent sheltonover visiting Clayton Valley Charter on Wednesday in the North Coast Section Division II semifinals.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – For the second straight week, a UCSB outfielder has been named the Big West Field Player of the Week, as junior left fielderJoey Epperson took home the honor on Monday afternoon following a standout weekend highlighted by a walk-off home run on Sunday that clinched a series win over No. 19 UC Irvine.

Batting in the leadoff spot, Epperson went 8-14 against the Anteaters with an impressive 1.000 slugging percentage. The Lafayette, Calif. native started the series with a 4-5 performance on Friday, finishing just a home run short of the cycle and scoring three times.

He added another hit, as well as a run and stolen base in Saturday’s victory.

However, Epperson saved his best for last, going 3-4 in the rubber match of the series and sending the Gauchos to […]

Hey Aaron

Semifinal game for the NorthCoast Championship, Division III.  Campolindo down 2-1 in top of the 7th (final inning) with two outs.  Zoe singles to right, outfielder bobbles the ball allowing Zoe to get to second. Next batter comes up and hits a short fly to left, Zoe is running on contact since there are 2 outsand the 3rd base coach sends her home.  The throw from left field is on the money and it looks like she is going be tagged out at the plate.  She cuts inside, avoids the tag, slides by the plate while reaching back to score the tying run!  Campo goes on to win the game in extra innings putting us into the Championship Game Saturday night!!!

GS athlete Ed Lampkin runs in honor of late grandparents.

Below is an article on Edward Lampkin a sprinter at Sacred Heart Cathedral in the San Francisco area.  A talented athlete who can run anything from 100m to 800m. The Mercury news did a nice feature on him. Ed lampkin

Ed makes the trip from San Francisco on the weekends (Sunday Track class) to tweak his form and work on strategies for his race the 400m. A very talented athlete who has great range he competed most of the year in the 100m and 200m with a lot of success. The speed work helped pay off with a second place finish in the 400m (48.91) at Central Coast Sectionals this past weekend. He narrowly missed first place (48.78). However, it was good enough to advance to the state meet later this month.

He’s been accepted at several schools including University of La Verne, University of Redlands, Eastern Washington, University of Alabama, Fisk University, Weber State and Fresno State. With  good showing at the state meet that list will grow. I think he’ll be able to add a few more. Good luck Ed.

JACKSON, Tenn. – For the third time in program history Austin Peay State University’s baseball team can celebrate a sweep of the Ohio Valley Conference’s top awards. Junior first baseman Craig Massoni was named the league’s Player of the Year and senior closer Tyler Rogers was named its Pitcher of the Year at the annual OVC Baseball Awards Banquet held Tuesday night.

“I’m not sure I have a word that is good enough to describe what these two men meant to our team,” said Austin Peay head coach Gary McClure. “Having Tyler involved in 27 decisions over 42 wins is incredible. And on the other hand, Craig was a guy who hit almost .500 in league play and didn’t do it with singles – he did it with doubles and home runs.

“They both have been huge to this team. But the great thing about both of them is you wouldn’t know they were […]
