MODESTO — At 18, Craig Jones has already accomplished more than most teens his age dream of.

By the start of his senior year, Craig had already passed four of his Advanced Placement tests and had received eight college credits from Stanford University after participating in the school’s summer program in 2010.

When it comes to sports, calling Craig an all-star athlete only scratches the surface of all that he has accomplished in just the past few years. This year, Craig not only had the privilege of being this year’s captain of the varsity football team, but when he wasn’t playing as an outside linebacker or fullback, he played as a middle linebacker and tailback.

Surprisingly, Craig doesn’t stop there. He has also played on the varsity wrestling and track teams.

Craig is an Eagle Scout and is involved in seven fellow Scouts’ Eagle projects, ranging from painting fire lines to remodeling a community garden.

Although Craig has won numerous awards over the past few years, such as the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and the AP Scholar Award, the most important would have to be the Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award that he recently received for giving back to his community.

Even with his hectic schedule, Craig manages to maintain a 4.619 cumulative grade point average and will play football as a walk-on for Stanford University in the fall, where he will major in business.
