My young charges had some solid and spectacular performances at the Northern California Frosh/Soph Championship Meet this weekend. Most oof my kids at Dulbin plus some others I train did very well and show great promise for the future. Dublin is looking deep on the girls side. The Dublin girls seem ready to fill the shoes of former Gael graduate Noria Mitchell. Granada also had two of its fastest aprinters on the boys and girls side that happen to be undercalssmen also at the meet.

dublin girls relayDublin High school girls 4×100 relay team of Mecca McGlaston, Jessica Bouchard, Alexis Kelly and Alicia Tran set a meet record of 50.04. It also is just .04 off the Dublin High school record. All these girls are just freshman and sophomores. So we’ve got many great years of sprinting to come from these young ladies.

Ryan Jones led a strong boys contingent running well in the invitational section of the 100 and 200m as well as both relays. The boys 4×400 relay set a new meet record.

Matt Smithwick of San Ramon Valley helped his team to a 6-5 victory over Livermore. He went 2 for 4 and 2 RBI’s.  This is the only stat I’ve posted but he’s been hitting this well all season.

Brian Reid of Liberty helped his team to a 5-3 victory over Antioch. He went 2 for 3 .

John York of Acalanes pitched a complete game with 8 strikeouts  to lead the Dons over Dublin. A special student of the Gamespeed Off Season Pitchrers program and the Norcal VIP program he has been stellar this season.

Softball

Gamespeed athletes Johanna Gruer (Amador)  and Kwynn Cooper (Cal) played pivotal roles in the seasons biggest upset.

With an excellent outing in the pitching circle by junior Lindsey Chalmers and a big hit from Kwyn Cooper, the California High softball team stunned two-time defending East Bay Athletic League champion Amador Valley 1-0 on Tuesday.

Amador Valley (13-2, 4-1 EBAL) began the season ranked No. 1 in the nation by Max Prep.com and had won 27 straight league games dating back to 2011 behind star pitcher Johanna Grauer.

But the Grizzlies (12-3, 5-0 EBAL) were able to strike for an early run, and Chalmers made the score stand up.

Cooper scored the game’s only run on Jessica Catson’s squeeze bunt after launching a triple to deep center field leading off the bottom of the first.

Jenna Crawford a freshman at Foothill went 1 for 2 unfortunately in a losing effort to Monte Vista 6-0. She is the younger sister of GS alumni and currrent Giants shortstop BRandon Crawford. He older sister Amy was also a GS alum and played softball at UCLA.
