Big congrats goes out to Gamespeeds Robin Hu (Chih-Wei Hu). He came to Gamespeed in 2013 with one goal, to make a major league roster and play professionally. He is one step closer now. The Taiwanese native has undergone Gamespeed’s highest level of training and management program conducted by Aaron Thigpen and coach Tony Laio. The program focuses on developing major league talent under stringent guidelines physically, mentally, technically, and tactically. The results have been the Ray’s organizations overall leader in ERA for the 2016 season. He hits 98mph, sits at 94mph and has a “PalmBall” that mystifies batters. He’ll be back at Gamespeed this December to continue his journey. Cant wait to get started.
Rays’ Chih-Wei Hu: Added to 40-man roster
by RotoWire Staff Nov 19, 2016 •
Hu was added to the Rays’ 40-man roster Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The right-hander turned in a fine season in 2016, posting a 2.59 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 107:36 K:BB in 24 starts for Double-A Montgomery, showing enough to warrant protection from the Rule 5 draft. Hu may not have the upside of some of the other arms in the organization, but he has a chance to contribute late in 2017.
