Congratulations to Enzo Villadolid who set school records in the 100m and 200m. The seventh grader set a 100m dash record of 11.97 seconds and 200m of 25.10. Blazing!  Enzo came out in October to work on his start and early race phases. We then moved on to strength training and top end speed. He will compete this summer, aiming for the AAU and Jr National championship meets.

Erika Serame, despite injury plagued season PR’s by six inches. Sets Dougherty Valley School Record at NCS meet of Champions. .

Erika suffered an foot injury due to some problems with her orthotics. She went to rehab and continued her strength regiment at Gamespeed. She literally started vaulting  three to four week before her conference meet. Her perserverance paid off not ultimately where she wanted to be but not a bad ending to her prep career. Her dad emailed:

Rika clear 10 6 052413 v1

Hi there,

…..not sure you received but wanted to advise that Erika missed going to state by 9 inches.  She cleared well over 10’6” which was a personal record for her but needed to clear 11’3” to get 3rd place to go to state and barely missed.  She placed 7th out of 24 jumpers.  I was happy to see her success considering she missed 2/3 of the season with her foot injury.  Her rehab and training program helped keep her strong  enough to pull this out which I am grateful to the team.  I can see her moving to new heights with her renewed confidence and these wonderful carbon fiber poles.  On the bright side as well was the fact that she set another girls PV school record for DVHS, hopefully it will last for a few years…..

Thanks for your support and wishes,

 Tom
